“Birds by Design: Creating Landscapes that Support Wildlife and People“ will be presented by Christopher Szymberski, founder of Theoria Designs Landscapes for Life (www.theorialandscapes.com)  based in North Idaho.

Christopher is a horticulturist and landscape architect focused on ecologically rich and functional landscaping. He will explore how thoughtful planning can create healthier habitat for birds while also enriching the places where people live, work, and gather.

The program includes a discussion with participants on what works for them in terms of:

• The broader context of habitat fragmentation, urbanization, and changing bird populations.

• How birds experience and "read" the landscape differently, including habitat structure, vegetation layers, water, food sources, refuge, and connectivity.

• How landscape architects approach site inventory, ecological processes, plant communities, succession, and long-term stewardship when designing landscapes.
