Walk for the Wild 5k Challenge
Walk with us to thrive. Walk to make sure wildlife thrives.
The Walk at Turnbull will take place on Saturday, October 14 between 9am and 4pm. Walkers can choose any time during the day to complete the 5K distance. Pick up a Walk for the Wild passport in the Administration Building and gather 5 stamps along the route of the Pine Lake Loop Trail to complete the challenge. You will get a reward for your effort and the Refuge EE program will get a reward from your donation support.
Walk for the Wild is an annual event to demonstrate our commitment to deepening human connections with nature and to protect the thriving ecosystems we depend on.
Join us to raise awareness and support of National Wildlife Refuges & their partners while we strive to get people moving a distance of 5K in nature in conjunction with National Wildlife Refuge Week, the second week of October.
During the 2023-2024 school year Friends of Turnbull NWR will be funding an Americorps Volunteer in cooperation with The Lands Council. The volunteer will providing project work and educational activities for both organizations. The Friends of Turnbull is happy to support new programming on the Refuge for area students and community members. The proceeds of our Walk for the Wild 5K will go toward the cost for the Americorps Volunteer ($8,000). Our goal is to raise $4000 with this event.
