Saltese Wetlands & Saltese Flats
This 600+ acre conservation area has over 7 miles of trails. The recent acquisition and restoration of several hundred acres of wetland has created a wonderful area to see many birds, including waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Open dawn to dusk.

Liberty Lake hosts some of the best habitat diversity in Spokane County, with breeding grebes on the lake, extensive wetlands and prairie & old second-growth Ponderosa Pine.

Dishman Hills Natural Area
The over 530 acres of rocky hills and ponds have been a protected natural area for over 30 years. The grassy area has towering pines, a fir and pine tree forest, aspen groves, and plentiful wildflowers.
Trails include Deep Ravine Loop Trail and Pinecliff Loop Trail. Both have public access areas ideal to meet the needs of hikers of varying levels. Some species you can expect to encounter are the willow and western flycatchers, the eastern and western kingbirds, and warbling vireos.
LOCATION: South 625 Sargent Road. The park is open from dawn till dusk daily unless otherwise posted.
Newman Lake– McKenzie Conservation Area
462 acres of diverse habitats along 3000' of Newman Lake shoreline. Mixed conifer trees and an extensive wetland with cottonwood and aspen trees makes this an ideal birding area.
