Waikiki Springs is a lovely area managed by the Inland Northwest Land Conservancy. The Little Spokane River flows through it. There are firs on the north facing slope and Pine on the south facing slope and a varied habitat between. This trip is suitable for all levels of birders.
This trip involves walking about 3 miles including an initial downhill and final uphill. Expected species include Bald Eagle, Gray Catbird, Bewick’s Wren, Spotted Towhee, Yellow and Nashville Warblers. Bring water, binoculars, snacks, and whatever else you need; loaner binoculars are available for signing out with advance notice.
Parking is limited and you will need a Discover pass at any of the four parking spots at the actual trailhead. However, those spots are typically full anyway and most days you will end up using free street parking in the neighborhood. Beware of no parking signs!
Joe Cooney is the trip leader. Please contact him by May 7th via email (jcooney805@gmail.com) or text (509-951-3179) to register for the trip and to request loaner binoculars if needed.
