Saturday's restoration event (9/27/2025) went really well. We have a group from Mica Peak High School coming tomorrow (9/30/2025) for more work and education, and likely 1-3 more school groups coming throughout October. Below is a summary of the volunteer data. Numbers are approximate but pretty close. I'm including a link to the photos a volunteer took as well as a selection of the comments we received. About 20 people left feedback and it was 100% positive.
• 62 volunteers = 124 volunteer hours; 5-7 participants were under 18 and many were in their 20's.
• 57 participants were not Spokane Audubon members; 53 were first time Spokane Audubon volunteers
• 8 more people counting TLC interns/staff + Brian Walker + Jenny + me
• 300 - 350 trees planted
• Two windows protected with Feather Friendly bird strike deterrents
• nearly 3 gallons of Birds and Beans coffee consumed
• two dozen doughnuts consumed
• Benefit to the insects, birds, water quality, and people feeling part of a community = immeasurable
